A Salute to the Senses

The Instinctive Meditation approach is one in which we explore the full range of our sensory experience – both in the outer everyday world and in the internal world of meditation.

We tend to enriching our ability to recognize and utilize all the senses as gateways into meditation.

Human beings have more than a dozen senses, and they are all essential aspects of a healthy approach to meditative practice: inner and outer hearing, touch, motion, balance, joint position, oxygen sensing, vision, smell, and taste.

You are invited to inhabit and enrich your own sensual experience, whether opening to new subtleties or awakening lost sensory awareness.

Our senses are the ways we perceive, engage with, and learn from our environment. They are the doorways that open us to the beauty of creation and give rise to feelings of awe and wonder. The senses are how we know love.

Our natural ability to sense life energy is a gift to be cherished and evolved over time. An essential skill of meditation is to open these Doors of Perception, gently and organically.

“If the doors of perception were cleansed every thing would appear to man as it is, Infinite. For man has closed himself up, till he sees all things thro' narrow chinks of his cavern.”

― William Blake (1757–1827) - "The Marriage of Heaven and Hell"
