The relationship between body and soul is intimate. We live inside the flow of power that has many names:
Pranashakti, The Higher Power, the Life Force, Spirit, the Holy Spirit, God. The Beloved. The Divine Spark. Presence. The Great Spirit. Qi.
Electromagnetic Fields. Quantum Fields. The Space-Time Continuum. The observable Laws of Nature.
This intimate relationship between our individuality and the forces of creation out of which we are made has an infinity of tones. We can wonder, inquire, explore, doubt, experiment, hesitate, go for it, surrender, dance with it, go on an adventure, come home to ourselves. We can flow through all of these in a half hour of meditation.
This word "meditation" refers to a variety of ways to engage consciously in this intimate relationship with the power of life. There are thousands of ways.
All we need to do to begin is to notice the dynamic process of being alive. We can notice, with our senses, what it is to breathe. We can appreciate in a sensual way this mysterious power called gravity attracting us to the Earth.
All love songs can be listened to as spirituals, articulating the way we feel not just with another person, but also what’s going on in our relationship with ourselves, our own Souls, with God, with the Higher Power. We are often fumbling, uncertain, feeling our way, daring to love, regretting what we have not expressed, and sometimes delighted with how it’s working out.
Lyrics
If I loved you
Time and time again I would try to say
All I'd want you to know
If I loved you
Words wouldn't come in an easy way
Round in circles I'd go
Longin' to tell you
But afraid and shy
I'd let my golden chances pass me by
Soon you'd leave me
Off you would go in the mist of day
Never, never to know how I loved you
